#musikvideos is one of the oldest musicvideos channels on
EFNet. It has existed for about 5 years. Exact date is unknown.

As of 28 April, 2003, mkv will no longer run official servers in #musikvideos
due to security concerns and have chosen to be become private. The unofficial
servers and XDCC bots which exist now will provide all musicvideo releases.
Yes, that means more videos and more selection. mkv's official website can
still be reached at its original location www.mkv.cc._________________

Why is groups getting private? Afraid of RIAA?

Big affil sites (10, 100 Mbit or higher..) that all the groups pre on
(pre=Presents, they release it) _REQUIRES_ the groups to be "private", to not
have a "public" download channel or www/ftp site. I dont understand WHY but
its like this. This is the real reason that mkv,pmv,vme,mv4u + others have
stopped to have fservers and most have closed their channels for the public
(#musikvideos will never close the channel for the public). It has NOTHING to
do with RIAA. With other words, the groups value the musicvideos scene and the
affils sites more than some clueless leechers (many are, but not everybody :)).
However, sooner or later some of the musicvideos will be available to the public
anyway. If you have mvids, run a fserver yourself and share the videos. If
everybody does that, it will be easier to the general public to get musicvideos.


From the start, #musikvideos was a Swedish channel, but have grown into
a truly multi-national channel. You are welcome to leech, chat, trade and
run your fserves/ftps in the channel as long as you follow the simple rules.
